Valerian Root: This herb is commonly used to treat anxiety and insomnia. Many studies have shown that the active constituents in the plant, valerenic acid, has been shown to impact the gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) receptors in the brain. These receptors are believed to control nervousness and fear that people experience when nerve cells become overexcited.

Lavender: One of the most popular herbs for finding a sense of calm, lavender also has benefits when ingested. In one study, lavender produced anxiety-reducing effects far superior than the placebo group, as well as aiding patients that were experiencing restlessness, disturbed sleep, or somatic complaints.

Chamomile: Often drank in teas to calm the nerves or promote a night of restful sleep, chamomile is able to suppress the central nervous system, thus allowing a sense of calm to take over during stressful times.

Catnip: More commonly known for use with cats, catnip also has medicinal benefits for humans. Known to slow down the central nervous system, catnip helps reduce feelings of anxiousness and induce a sedative-like effect.

How to Use: Take 1/2 – 1 dropper fulls up to three times a day. Place liquid under tongue or place in your favorite drink.
